The Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha's chapter in Ha Noi has established a consultancy office for HIV/AIDS carriers.
The office, which is located in Phap Van pagoda, Hoang Mai district, Ha Noi, will be operated by chief monk Thich Dam Lan and other monks and nuns.
It has test-operated for six months, helping children and families of HIV/AIDS patients and creating favourable conditions for HIV carriers to get work and integrate into the community.
The number of HIV carriers has rapidly increased in Ha Noi to 6,231 at present, 1,000 of them have developed AIDS and 566 have died.
To prevent the spread of the deadly disease, relevant agencies in the city have registered and managed more than 77 percent of HIV/AIDS patients, given advice to thousands of people and helped them receive blood tests.
The Health Service has coordinated with the Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Department and the Internal Affairs Department to put Centre 09 into operation in the second quarter of this year, providing medical services to 80 percent of the HIV/AIDS patients.
