The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is looking for university students to enter its 2004 Wetland Ambassadors Programme.
This year’s topic "Mekong – Living River from the Mountains to the Sea" is designed to help students undertake studies on particular wetland issues. It will also help to raise public awareness on wetland conservation issues and river basin management.
Successful applicants will gain practical research experience as well as the opportunity to contribute to a wide-reaching international project. Awards will go to the best projects from each country and include the chance to travel to some of the most stunning Mekong locations in the region.
Applicants, in teams of five, must prepare a brief proposal of what they want to investigate. After reviewing the proposals, successful teams will receive up to US$600 to conduct their studies. First place teams will visit another Mekong country, 2nd place teams will receive cash and 3rd place teams will receive a set of WWF/Ramsar publications.
