Vietnam’s customs sector will start clearing goods electronically as of July 1 this year, a senior customs official said Friday.
In July, importers and exporters in Ho Chi Minh City and the northern port of Hai Phong city will be able to request e-customs clearance for its shipments, said Le Manh Hung, chief of Vietnam’s General Customs Department.
In the first stage, only companies with large import or export turnovers or transparent financial and business records are able to qualify for e-customs, he said.
He added that the customs sector would begin its modernization process this year and continue to reform its administrative procedures
