Provincial and municipal departments of post and telecommunications will be established nationwide in the fourth quarter this year.
According to sources from the Ministry of Post and Telematics, the departments of home affairs for 10 provinces and cities have submitted design projects on local post & telecom departments to respective People’s Committees for approval.
It is expected that in the third quarter, all 64 provinces and cities throughout the country will establish departments set to come online in the fourth quarter.
In May 2004 the ministries of Post and Telematics and Home Affairs issued a joint circular defining the functions, missions, rights and organization of provincial and municipal departments of post and telecommunications.
According to the circular, those departments will help provincial and municipal People’s Committees in conducting State management in the field of post-telecommunications and IT.
