Japan's finger conjunction technique to be transferred to Viet Nam
Japanese experts will show the technique of thumb conjunction to Viet Nam next month.
According to Le Nam, Director of the National Institute of Burns, surgeons from the institute will be trained in the technique, which helps connect the blood vessels and tendons of a severred or missing thumb to the hand in 4-5 hours.
The institute is now preparing for the first surgical operations, including patients with inborn adactylia (a congenital lack of a finger or toe).
Thumb conjunction has been made successful in Viet Nam but this is the first time doctors will conjoin thumbs that have been lost for long time.
