HCM City National University has inaugurated a software park, the city's second after Quang Trung software park, to boost scientific research and information technology (IT) staff training.
With this inauguration, the city hopes to lure domestic and foreign IT companies to contribute to the development of the IT sector in the city and the country as well.
The park will train and supply personnel for the IT sector, and provide IT services and products for export processing zones, industrial parks and facilitate the transfer of new technologies to customers.
It will call on domestic and foreign investors to engage in training activities to supply staff for the IT sector, IT research projects and manufacture software and other IT products.
Companies that spend heavily on scientific research will be given more incentives because the key target of the park is to develop research for applications in training and providing services for the community, said Trinh Tan Hoai, acting office manager of the park.
Those investing in software research and new software production will be encouraged to do long-term business at the park, he said.
Additionally, incentives of the central and local governments, the university will announce its own incentives to create an attractive environment for investors and promote research and creativeness within the university, he added.
The park will expand to 23 ha and be divided into two sections, with an 8-ha section already in operation. It houses blocks for research, training, production and services and a section for organising IT exhibitions and seminars.
Infrastructure development at the park, such as telephone, Local Area Network and a broadband Internet line, has been completed. Other support services and auxiliary facilities like canteens, bars, guesthouses and telephone booths are also available.--Enditem
