e-L Skills and VnDG Campus 21 workshop held by University of Technical Education HCMC, e-learning Center, inWEnt- Federal Republic of Germany and Vietnam Development Gateway, Sustainable Development Center, took place in Technical Education HCMC from 13 to16 June 2006.
Objectives of the training course:
- To develop working and e-learning skills of the teachers who are the key force to develop e-learning models at universities and colleges, particularly in departments and divisions. Contents of the workshop include - Trainees were introduced training moduls of e- learning, pedagogic issues as well as methodology of e- learning, by which the needs of using these training moduls were clarified. Practicability and implementation know-hows were discussed.
- Trainees built plans of initial experimentation of e-leaning skills training Moduls and established next implementing plans.
- Trainees were introduced different learning management systems such as Kewl NextGen, Moodle by inWEnt experts; they were also introduced details of VnDG Campus 21 by the Director of Vn DG. Accordingly, it was possible to compare strengths as well as weaknesses of each learning management system.
- During the workshop, every trainee was provided an end user license of VnDG Campus 21 training system to access e-learning training functions say e-learning, speech, exercises doing, information loading…
Participants:
There were more than 30 lecturers from universities, colleges, junior colleges who are partners of InWent and GTZ such as: HCMC University of Technical Education, Nam Dinh University of Technical Education, Hung Yen University of Technical Education, Vinh University of Technical Education, Vinh Long Junior College of Technical Education, Ha Noi University of Education, Ha Noi College of Natural Sciences, University of An Giang, University of Can Tho, Ly Tu Trong Technical Junior College, Nguyen Huu Canh Junior College of Technical and Professional Education.
Specially, in the time of the workshop, a roundtable conference, with the presence of more than 50 representatives, was held to
- Identify the role of e-learning in tertiary education - Identify the key of e-L in tertiary education; inquire some typical universities’ ways to access e-learning, namely University of An Giang . - Orientate the training with VnDG Campus 21 and - Discuss co-operation possibilities to put e-learning training course in to experimental implementation The conference, chaired by Pr. Dr Thai Ba Can, Rector of UTE HCMC drew not only enthusiastic lecturers of young generation’s attention but also departments and facilities leaders’ concern.
