Ministry sets criteria for conservation parks

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has outlined the criteria for designating national preservation parks, affirming that a locale should contain, rare plants and animals listed in Vietnam's Red Book or other important characteristics, such as coral reefs.

Red-head cranes in Tram Chim need help

Tram Chim National Park in Tam Nong District, Dong Thap Province is the habitat of red-head cranes (scientifically known as Grus Antigone Sharpii), a species of bird listed in the World’s Red Book. However, the number of red-head cranes going to Tram Chim has decreased over the years that requires scientists, authorities and locals to make joint efforts to protect the “Red- head cranes’ house”.

New species found in protected cave

New species of flora and fauna have recently been discovered at the world natural heritage site of Phong Nha-Ke Bang cave in the central province of Quang Binh.
