Joint stock banks reach business plan goals ahead of schedule

Most Vietnamese joint stock commercial banks have reportedly fulfilled their yearly business plans, even though there is another two months to go until the end of the year, indicating a fruitful year for the country’s fledging banking sector.

East Asian Bank signs 3-party deal

The East Asian Bank (EAB), the Mai Linh Joint stock company (MLC) and Taiwan’s Jampoo co (JPC) signed a three-party co- operation contract to jointly do business in Viet Nam and Taiwan. The agreement was signed in HCM City on Tuesday.

IFC to set up credit information bureau

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank, plans to set up a credit information bureau in Viet Nam with assistance from credit-card giant Visa International.
