Central communes get rid of poverty

The central province of Thua Thien Hue has asked the Government to withdraw the two mountainous communes of Huong Son and Huong Phu (Nam Dong District) from the national poverty reduction programme due to improvements in the living conditions in these communes.

However, its competitive capacity remains low compared to other countries in the region and the world.

While the country has seen a significant improvement in the living standards of people living under the poverty line, there are about 700,000 households still living in dilapidated houses, said Pham The Duyet, chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee on Friday in Ha Noi.
