Vinamilk’s ways to success

Products by the Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) have been popular not only to domestic consumers, but also have won the trust of foreign customers. The achievements are thanks to the company’s creativity in building their dairy production and trading model to bring about good results.

Modern equipment

Vinamilk has invested nearly half a trillion Vietnamese dong to renovate their equipment and technology, build three more dairy factories in Nghe An, Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City and a warehouse enterprise. More importantly, the company has poured investment in expanding its scale of production in its five existing dairy factories of Hanoi, Thong Nhat, Truong Tho, Binh Dinh and Dielac. Vinamilk has been transferred with many modern dairy processing lines from countries with advanced industries. The company currently produce 250 high quality dairy products which are popular in the market.

Over the last few years, Vinamilk has set firm on the track of applying effective science and techniques with the use of modern equipment and technology in producing products. in comparison with 2000, the company’s quantity of products have been doubled.



Vinamilk has also paid great attention to developing its human resources. It is willing to recruit outstanding young engineers and send their engineers for further training abroad so that their staff will be able to manage the transferred technology.



This has contributed to helping the company’s revenue keep increasing remarkably.



During the past nine months, Vinamilk’s revenue has increased by 60% against the same period last year. The company’s general director and head of the board of management Mai Kieu Lien said Vinamilk is ready to give good salaries in order to have outstanding personnel.



Market expansion

Vinamilk has paid great attention to expanding markets. The company’s products have currently been exported to over 20 countries including the US, Canada, France, Russia, Germany and China. Most recently, Vinamilk has won contracts to regularly export its condensed milk to Australia, which is famous in the world for milk production.

The company has also attached great attention to marketing, diversifying promotional activities and expanding retailing network.



Currently, the company has developed a network of 320 distributors. Each distributor manage thousands of agents throughout the country, creating a wide retailing network to meet the consumers’ demand.

Material expansion

Vinamilk is the first company to invest in developing dairy cows by supporting farmers in raising cows and pledging to buy all the fresh milk at reasonable prices. The company has also provided farmers with training on preliminary processing techniques, milk churns and specialised equipment to store fresh milk.



Vinamilk has now established some areas specialising in raising dairy cows, from 31,000 cows in 2000 to 107,000 cows to date. The quantity of fresh milk bought by Vinamilk, has also increased sharply, from 50.800 tonnes of fresh milk in 2000 to 89,200 tonnes in 2004. In the first nine months of this year, Vinamilk has bought 68,000 tonnes of fresh milk, up 3.9% against the same period last year.
