Wire and cable exports through the roof

The increase in demand for industrial products has led to higher demand for electric wire and cable.

Electric wire and cable exports have seen considerable growth, according to the Ministry of Trade (MoT) with total export turnover reaching US$28mil in July.

The figures have marked a 27.2% increase over the same period last year.

In the first seven months of the year, Vietnam has exported $200mil worth of electric wire and cable, increasing by 29.8% over the same period of 2003. Japan has been the biggest consumer of Vietnam’s exports, amounting to 92% of the total export value.

According to the MOT, the increase in demand for industrial products, including cars, electronics, and telecommunications has led to higher demand for electric wire and cable.

Vietnam is expected to reach a total turnover in cable and wire exports of $340mil in 2004, an increase of 29.3% over 2003’s figures.
