President Tran Duc Luong cut the ribbons to open the 14th Vietnam International Trade Fair- Vietnam Expo 2004 - at the Vietnam Fair and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Mai Ai Truc and Minister of Post and Telecommunication Do Trung Ta.
In an opening address, Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen emphasised that Vietnam Expo 2004 provides not only an opportunity for Vietnamese and foreign businesses to showcase their potential and products but also a venue for them to seek partners, explore deals, and learn new technologies.
During a tour of some of the pavilions, President Luong urged businesses to develop their creativeness fully to turn out highly competitive products for export.
Expo 2004 is composed of 560 pavilions of 420 Vietnamese businesses and 148 others of foreign businesses coming from 20 countries and territories.
Taking place from April 7-11, the fair includes seminars on business and meetings between Vietnamese and foreign businesses.
