Eight Japanese non-refundable projects proposed

The Ministry of Planning and Investment has submitted to the Prime Minister a list of eight development projects to benefit from Japanese non-refundable aid in the 2006 fiscal year. Total investment of the proposed projects is 58.5 million USD.

Of the investment, 12 million USD will be poured into a project to prevent erosion and landslides along riverbanks and dykes, 5 million USD for building catering stations along national Highway 1, and 8 million USD for agricultural research, development and production promotion in the northern highlands region.

Other projects include the establishment of the O Mon-Can Tho aquaculture centre worth 5.5 million USD in the Mekong Delta, a micro-electronic lab in HCM City worth 5 million USD, and a specialised tree-cutting machine maintenance workshop at a cost of 8 million USD. Ten million USD will be provided for a project to plant trees on sand, and 5 million USD for the urgent upgrade of the railway safety corridor network.
