Vietnam's bid to join WTO strengthened by deal with Singapore

The two-day bilateral negotiations with Singapore on Vietnam's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) concluded in Hanoi on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Trade.

The two-day bilateral negotiations with Singapore on Vietnam's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) concluded in Hanoi on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Trade.

The deal includes agreements on the opening of the markets of service and goods as well as on the legal regulations which will further enhance the strong economic and trade linkage between the two countries.

The successful negotiations with Singapore, following those with such major economies as the EU, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, will create even more favourable support for Vietnam's bid to join the WTO.

Currently, Singapore is one of Vietnam's largest trade partners and is the leading foreign investor in Vietnam
