President Tran Duc Luong requested that newly-established Dien Bien province to fully utilise its economic development by combining cattle raising with the development of handicrafts and farm-forestry products processing industries.
Working along side the provincial leaders on Sunday, President Luong asked them to make the best use of resources in capital, technologies and labour force, focusing on promoting the internal strength and building policies to call for investment.
He also urged the provincial Party Committee and people to create new changes to help the locality escape from being the poorest province.
He also suggested Dien Bien should include beef and buffalo breeding in its economic structure while developing handicrafts and farm-forestry produce processing industries.
Dien Bien was separated from Lai Chau province last year. The province can produce sufficient food for the local people with an average food production of 400 kilogram per head.
The President praised the province's fine efforts during the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the resounding Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7).
