Representatives of 50 Malaysian businesses attended a workshop in HCM City on July 20 to seek business and investment opportunities in Vietnam.
Reports delivered at the conference showed that exported US$2.17 billion worth of goods to last year compared to US$1.72 billion in 2004. It has so far invested in 173 projects in with a total investment capital of US$1.9 billion to become the ninth largest foreign investor in the country.
Malaysian participants said that ’s upcoming accession to the World Trade Organisation will create many investment opportunities and encourage greater trade exchanges between the two countries.
The conference was jointly organised by the Malaysian Trade Promotion Agency, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Planning and Investment. Malaysian Minister of Trade and Industries Ahmad Husni Mohammad Hanadzlah attended the event.
