Dam Sen Cultural Park in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 11 is expected to buy some 30 boats of 12 to 16 seats to prepare for the operation of its dinosaur park, which will be the first of its type in Ho Chi Minh City, an executive said.
Vu Ngoc Tuan, a member of the dinosaur park project management unit, told the Saigon Times Daily the park will cover 5,000 square meters, and requires a budget of VND 15 billion, or nearly US $1 million. It is expected to open late this year to serve the next Lunar New Year holidays.
The park will showcase different types of dinosaurs and models of fossilised dinosaurs in an environmental simulation of the habitat of dinosaurs millions of years ago.
"This dinosaur park is modeled after the one in Japan, though of a smaller scale, and will offer new entertainment for visitors," he said.
The company yesterday also opened a tender to invite bidders to supply motorised dinosaurs and fossilised models. The cost for manufacturing these dinosaurs alone will be some VND 4 billion.
Mr Tuan said there would be some 200 dinosaurs in the park, half of them being able to move or produce sounds. Around ten big dinosaurs will have a height of between 10 and 12 meters, while the smallest ones will be two to four meters tall. Dam Sen Park currently has an outdoor area displaying models of dinosaurs built of concrete or stone.
