A cultural tourism week opened in Sa Pa resort, northwestern Lao Cai province, on Friday.A number of cultural activities are organized during the week-long festival.
Sa Pa flowers, vegetables, bonsai trees and farm produce are displayed. Visitors would learn about the land and people of Sa Pa through a photo exhibition themed Sa Pa-past and present. They will also enjoy indigenous dances and music of the ethnic groups living on the Hoang Lien mountain range with a love market of young Mong and Dao people. Tourist sports like the Ta Phin cave, the Cat Cat culture village, the Ham Rong tourist area, the O Quy Ho pass and silver waterfall are expected to attract more tourists during the festival. In the first quarter of this year, Sa Pa welcomed nearly 40,000 visitors, 1.5 times higher than the same period last year. Foreign tourists accounted for more than 50 percent.
