In 1535, during Mac Thai Tong Dynasty, he came first in the court competition and became the First Laureate, and then the First Doctoral Candidate. He entered the government, holding the positions from Eastern Council-chamber Principal to Interior Honorary Minister. In 1542, after resigning, he returned to his hometown, established Trung Tan Center, and Bach Van Temple, and named himself as the retired scholar of Bach Van Temple. Nowadays, he is ranked among the thirteen great cultural celebrities of the Vietnamese nation.

The 420-year commemoration of the cultural celebrity, first doctoral candidate Nguyen Binh Khiem will be held on the 27^th of December, 2005. Many fascinating programs will be included. One of them is named 'Touring the countryside'. Joining in the tour, visitors will have a chance to watch Trang Temple Vestige, visit the sculpting trade-village in Dong Minh commune Bao Ha Temple, stop at the craftsmennnns homes, watch puppetry, taste the traditional dishes of the Northern Delta, enjoy the art of the four supernatural creaturessss dancing and water puppet, and go to the Tien Lang resort of hot, mineral springs. Besides, other programs are  the traditional boat-race, the volleyball competition, the opening of Tourism and Recreation area, and the performance of lamp-balloon flying and fireworks display.
