The Music Institute in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and Information’s Cultural Heritage Department held a national Ca Tru Festival 2006 to gather Ca Tru singers and to honor the traditional folk cultural values.
The festival also helps to establish the profile of Ca Tru for recognition by UNESCO as a world oral and intangible heritage.
Present at the festival are not only Ca Tru clubs from the provinces in the North and the central but also a club named “Ca Tru Hoa Dao” (Peach Flower) from Ho Chi Minh City with an interesting performance of “hat noi” (singing while speaking and dancing).
The performance of the team from Ho Chi Minh City showed that Ca Tru has pervaded across the country and gone into the people‘s souls.
Ca Tru interests even the foreigners. Alienor Anisensel, a French woman, for example, chose it as the topic of her successful master’s thesis in France in 2005.
Formerly, singers and scholars Barlay Norton from Britain and Staphen Addiss from the US did valuable researches on Ca Tru.
In addition, Prof. Tran Van Khe has introduced ca tru at the Sorbonne University in France, Hawaii University in Manoa-Honolulu.
Moreover, the CD recording Vietnamese People's Ca Tru Artist Quach Thi Ho’s performance has been introduced to 400 universities and cultural houses in the world by UNESCO.
