A handicraft and cultural product festival will be held within the framework of the Hue Festival scheduled to be held from June 11 - 20. This is one of the new items in the festival to honour tangible culture.
The festival will have five themes, including international friends with Vietnam; handicraft and cultural products and services; calligraphy, photo and antique exhibition; traditional tea and current drink culture and flower and decorative plant display.
For the first time, the traditional handicraft and cultural services will be honoured at such a great festival. Exhibitions on Han (Chinese script) �€“ Nom (Chinese transcribed Vietnamese) calligraphy, artistic photos and precious antiques will gather a number of 400 calligraphic works by various artists in the country, particularly the 94 year old calligrapher Le Xuan Hoa. Calligraphic researcher Nguyen Viet confirmed that they will bring to the festival 60 calligraphic paintings on calligraphic art and the Prison Diary of President Ho Chi Minh compiled by Chinese famous calligrapher Lu Yuan and himself. The organising board will award the best five young calligraphers. Apart from antiques from Hue, the exhibition also plans to display several objects excavated at the Thang Long Citadel.
Deputy head of the Hue Festival�€™s organising board, Tran Thi Thuy Hop, said the festival will give some prizes, including the Golden Globe for ten leading enterprises, the Vietnamese Star for ten outstanding artisans and businessmen, Festival Quintessence for 100 special products and services.
